Education Summer Intern Job Description

Falls Brook Centre is an environmental non-profit that works to foster thriving local communities through education. We support schools and communities to support environmental learning for all ages, with workshops and educational programming.

This is a wonderful 8-week opportunity for anyone looking to pursue environmental education as a career or in collaboration with your future in-classroom teaching. Our education intern will work out in the field, in partnership with the Education Coordinator, for Duck’s Unlimited Project Webfoot. During this program, students visit the Muddy Boots wetland center in Florenceville, N.B. to learn about the importance of wetland habitats. The intern will also work in schools throughout New Brunswick for our Agriculture in the Classroom program. The program is innovative and hands-on, incorporating science, nutrition and gardening to teach students about local agriculture. There will be opportunities to develop curriculum, run workshops on topics like Bat Boxes and Pollinator Gardens, and work with our other coordinators in fields like renewable energy and permaculture.

Applicants should be passionate about the natural world and able to bring that passion to students. Someone who is outgoing, organized and bilingual would be preferred. We are based out of our office in Fredericton and make frequent trips to Carleton and Victoria counties. There are some overnight stays in the Glassville, NB area to accommodate multi-day programming. This position is funded through Canada Summer jobs and all applicants must be eligible though this funding system.
